Loose Leaf Tea

Our loose leaf tea collection is the Bulk Herb Store line, farm-blended in small batches and sold loose by the half-pound. Twenty years in, this is still how we like to drink it best.

Pour a cup of Doctor Cinnamon for the cold afternoon, Cold Comfort when the weather turns, or Mama's Red Raspberry Brew for the everyday cup. Double-E Echinacea and Elderberry, Tickle Tea, Misty Morning, and the rooibos blends round it out, each one hand-blended and packed on our farm in the Missouri Ozarks, sourced from our network of farms and naturally grown. A half-pound bag is the size that lasts a season, which is the point.

Heat the kettle, fill the strainer, and we will meet you back here in five minutes. See also Holiday Tea Blends for the season, or Tea Bags when you would rather skip the strainer.

Frequently asked questions about our Loose Leaf Tea

How do I brew loose leaf tea from a half-pound bag?

A heaping teaspoon of loose tea per cup of water is the rule of thumb. Heat the kettle to a rolling boil, pour over the herbs in a strainer or tea ball, steep five to ten minutes depending on how strong you like it, remove the strainer, sweeten as desired, and enjoy.

How long does a half-pound bag of loose tea last?

Roughly a season for one daily cup, which is by design. A half-pound is about eighty to a hundred cups depending on how heavy a hand you have at the strainer. Store in a sealed glass jar away from heat and light and the flavor holds.

Are these loose leaf teas caffeine free?

Most are, including all of the herbal and rooibos blends. The exceptions are the ones made with yerba mate or a black tea base, like Yerba Mate Tea and Black Spice Chai Tea, which carry caffeine naturally. Each product page lists whether the blend is caffeine free.
