Cold-Season Comforts

Cold-Season Comforts is our selection of warming tea blends and single herbs for the months when the kettle stays close. Blended and packed on our farm in the Missouri Ozarks, the way Bulk Herb Store has been doing it for twenty years.

You will find Cold Comfort Tea, Tickle Tea, and Double-E Echinacea and Elderberry Tea here, alongside rose hips, marshmallow root, and whole dried elderberries for the folks who like to brew their own. The collection earns its keep from October through early spring. The dark mornings, the cold-rain afternoons, the quiet hour before bed when a hot mug and a wool throw are the whole plan.

It is the one to know about for parents stocking the cupboard for the season, for anybody who runs cold, for the cup you reach for when the weather turns. Put the kettle on. The wider Tea selection is here when you need a refill.

Frequently asked questions about our Cold-Season Comforts

What teas are best for cold-weather sipping?

Cold Comfort Tea is the warmest cup in the collection, with a spiced, gently honeyed flavor for the chilly afternoon. Tickle Tea leans into the herbs people reach for when the throat feels a little scratchy. Double-E Echinacea and Elderberry Tea is a cold-mornings regular for a lot of our customers.

Can I brew with whole dried elderberries instead of using a tea blend?

Yes. Whole dried elderberries simmer beautifully into a homemade syrup or a long stovetop decoction, the back-of-the-stove kind of brewing that fills the kitchen with the deep berry smell. A lot of folks make a winter batch around Thanksgiving and tuck jars away for the rest of the season.

When should I stock the cold-season cupboard?

Late September through October is the sweet spot. Order while the leaves are still turning so the cupboard is ready before the first real cold snap. We pack fresh on the farm.
