Blue Butterfly Pea Flowers, Whole, 1/4 LB.

Sale price $18.00
Description

The gorgeous, edible blue butterfly pea flower grows on a vine native to Thailand, and the dried blooms make one of the most beautiful drinks you'll ever steep. Pour hot water over the petals and the cup turns a deep, twilight blue. Add a single drop of lemon juice and watch it shift to bright pink, like a little bit of kitchen magic.

It's a calming, gently floral cup, and it's our favorite kid-friendly drink at the farm. The little ones love the color change, and we love that it gives us a beautiful pitcher of tea for the table. Beyond tea, the petals work as a natural food dye for icings, rice, lemonade, and anything else that could use a soft blue wash.

Packed on our farm in the Missouri Ozarks. Pairs nicely with the rest of our bulk herbs and flowers, and if you're stocking the tea drawer, check out our loose leaf tea collection.

How to Use

Steep 1-2 teaspoons of dried flowers in 8 oz of hot (just-off-boil) water for 5 to 7 minutes, then strain. Sweeten if you'd like. For the magic color trick, add a squeeze of fresh lemon and watch the deep blue shift to bright pink, that's the flower's natural pigments responding to the acidity. For iced, cold brew 1 teaspoon per cup in a jar of cold water for 4 to 8 hours in the fridge.

The petals also make a beautiful natural food dye. Heads up: baking soda and baking powder will shift the blue toward green, while anything acidic (lemon, vinegar, buttermilk) will shift it pink to purple. Half the fun is watching what happens.

Shipping & Returns

Shipping & Returns
A quick note before you check out: here's how we get your order from our farm to your front porch, and what to expect along the way.

When We Ship
We ship Monday through Thursday, holidays excepted. Most orders go out the door in 1 to 4 business days. During sales and the holiday rush we may run a little behind, and we appreciate your patience when that happens.

US Shipping Rates
Flat rate shipping is $8.50, and standard US shipping is on us for orders over $89. We send packages through USPS or UPS, and you'll get a tracking number by email the moment your order leaves the warehouse.

A small ask on delivery...

Please double-check your shipping address at checkout and make sure it's somewhere your package can land safely. Once your order is in the carrier's hands, lost, stolen, or misdelivered packages are out of our reach, and the carrier will be your best contact for tracking questions. Hold onto that tracking number, it's your lifeline if anything goes sideways in transit.

Fabric Orders
Because every fabric cut is made just for you, we're unable to accept fabric returns once it's been cut, shipped, washed, or worked with. We know that's a firmer line than we'd like to draw, and we wish we could be more flexible here, but cut yardage simply can't go back on the bolt for the next maker.

Non-Fabric Returns
We accept returns on non-fabric items within 30 days for store credit, provided they are returned in new condition with the original packaging and tags still attached. Return shipping is the customer's to cover.

Items need to arrive free of damage, including pet hair, smoke, perfume, stains, holes, or tears. Once your return arrives at our warehouse, allow up to 5 days for the store credit to be processed.

A few things we can't take back: final sale items marked 50% off or more and grab bags. We also have the right to decline a refund for anything that shows signs of alteration, misuse, or damage, or that was a final sale at the time of purchase.

And one more shipping note: we can't cover lost, stolen, or damaged packages in transit, so please keep that tracking number handy.

How store credit works...
Once your return arrives and we've had a chance to look it over, we'll issue a store credit code equal to the product's value (excluding original shipping and package protection). The code lands in your inbox at the email address you used to order, and it doesn't expire, so you can spend it whenever the right thing catches your eye.

Rooted in Old-Fashioned Traditions

From our farm to your front porch...

We're a family in the Missouri Ozarks, with a deep love for traditional folk skills and good ol' country living. We blend herbs and pack orders by hand, the same way we do most things around here: a little slower, a little more careful, with people we love pitching in. There's a whole story behind Home Folk, and we'd love to share it. Come meet the folks behind your order.
