Embroidery & Needlework: Kits, Felt, Floss

This is the collection for stitchers, the ones with a project bag tucked next to the chair and a needle threaded through a square of linen on the side table. Embroidery and needlework is a slow-down kind of making. A few stitches at a time, over weeks, until something small and finished is sitting in your hands.

Our selection runs from beginner-friendly felt craft kits like Folk Birds, the Mouse Family, and the Mrs. Cat Loves Knitting mini kit, to embroidery kits like the Linen Lavender Bags with Bees. The kits arrive with everything you need to start, which is the part that usually trips a project up.

For the everyday work of stitching, we stock DMC floss in a full palette of colors. If you are looking for fabric to embroider on, browse the fabric collection. For thread specifically, the DMC floss collection is sorted by color number or feel free to search for that perfect color in our search bar.

Frequently asked questions about our Embroidery & Needlework: Kits, Felt, Floss

I am new to embroidery. Where should I start?

A felt craft mini kit is the friendliest place to begin. The instructions are clear, the felt is ready, the stitches are simple, and a small project means you can finish something in a sitting or two. Folk Birds and Mouse Family are both well-loved by first-time stitchers.

What is the difference between embroidery floss and other threads?

DMC six-strand cotton floss is the standard for embroidery and cross-stitch. The six strands let you control the thickness of your line by separating out as many strands as the pattern calls for.

Do the felt kits include the needle?

Most do, along with the felt of course, embroidery floss, the printed pattern, and instructions. Each kit's product page lists exactly what is included.
