It is ideal for hand piecing and hand appliqué especially when using the needle turn method. It also perfect for machine appliqué when you want the fabric to be the feature rather than the thread- the thread looks like it "melts" into the fabric, use straight, small zig zag, and blanket stitches. The 50 wt thread is fine and thin which is helpful in creating a very flat seam when machine piecing. In machine quilting it works great for back tracking and heavy background design work.
